Joachim Klein is of German-Swedish origin and holds a master´s degree in business administration. Over the past 10 years he has worked with global companies in the sector to define strategies, improve performance, transform supply chains and integrate acquired companies. Prior to founding StepChange in 2006, he worked for 10 years as a management consultant with a large international management consulting and technology firm, where he was operationally responsible for building the pulp and paper consulting practice. In addition to his specialisation in the forest, pulp & paper industry, Joachim has consulting experience from a wide range of other industries.

Over the last 10 years Maria has been managing the European aftersales business. As Managing Director and Sales Company President of Volvo Automobile France she was responsible for driving 120 dealers to increase sales by 40 %. Currently she is managing the global marketing budget for Volvo cars, including brand strategy, product offer, interactive marketing, CRM, launch and motorshow activities and 360 communications strategy and developments.
More than half or her professional life she has worked outside of Sweden, with resposibilities in Belgium, France, Spain and Italy. Her experiences are within sales and marketing with a special focus on and achievements in driving change processes, efficiencies, communications, new media, global vs local organisations etc. Her former assignments included project planning and management, volume planning as well as market and business development.

Owen Mitchell

Owen Mitchell is Senior Vice President, Global Sourcing for Pearson PLC. He joined the company in 2002. Pearson is an international media company with annual sales of GBP 4.8bn and 34,000 employees operating in 60 countries. Pearson Education is the world´s largest education company; the Financial Times Group provides a broad range of business information and multimedia services to the international business community; and, the iconic Penguin brand is regarded as the most famous in consumer publishing.
Owen´s responsibilities include oversight of all purchase-to-pay activities across Pearson including sourcing strategies, selection of suppliers, negotiations, and vendor relations. He also has direct responsibility for those activities done in common around the world such as, travel and office supplies; as well as payables processing for North America.
Prior to joining Pearson, he held senior roles in finance, printing, and publishing operations with HarperCollins and Golden Books in Glasgow, New York and Wisconsin. Born in Scotland, he is a graduate of Dundee College of Technology and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Karolina Roslund has been Director of New Business at Bonnier Magazines since 2009, responsible for all digital activities; 40 commercial webbsites and Mag+, international expansion and conceptual development - all new growth areas. Karolina started at Bonnier in 1995 as marketing director/business development for Medicine Today and launching the newspaper in five countries. In 2002 she became Publishing director/CEO of Bonzoo/launching new magazines in Sweden. As from 2007 she was International Director and responsible for strategic alliances/acquisitions and launching new magazines in Europe.
Karolina holds a master degree in business administration with a major in marketing.

Martin Glass

Martin Glass is a leading market consultant in the paper industry, specialising in Coated, Uncoated and Newsprint paper markets and is head of the market consulting firm, EMGE & Co. Martin worked for over 10 years with English China Clays between 1977 and 1988, in the Corporate Planning and Market Planning Departments. At ECC, Martin was in charge of the Group´s planning activities in the paper industry, which included strategy, market research and the competitor database. In 1988, he left ECC to join the consulting firm Hawkins Wright as Senior Partner. In 1994, he formed his own consulting company based in Cornwall.
He has a Masters degree (M.Sc.) in Operational Research from the University of Birmingham and a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Maths (B.Sc. Hons) from Southampton University, UK.

Stig Andersen

Stig Andersen, born in 1960, holds a PhD in Forestry Economics and a MBA. He joined Nordea Markets in 1994, and worked 10 years as an equity analyst, primarily covering the Nordic paper & forest products (P&FP) sector. In 2005, he moved to Nordea Corporate Division, where he is currently employed as a Senior Analyst, covering the P&FP sector - on a global basis. Prior to joining Nordea, he worked with corporate finance - and also spent one year working as a forester.

Jouko Karvinen

Jouko Karvinen joined Stora Enso on 1 January 2007 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer at the AGM on 29 March 2007.
Mr Karvinen joined Philips in June 2002 to manage its Medical Systems based in Boston, Massachusetts. He held the role as President & Chief Executive Officer and was a member of the Group Management Committee. In April 2006, he was appointed to the Board of Management of Royal Philips Electronics.
Before joining Philips, Mr Karvinen was responsible for the Automation Division of ABB Group Ltd. He served ABB Group in several international positions and was a member of the ABB Group Executive Committee from 2000 to 2002.
Mr Karvinen is a Member of the Board of the Finnish Forest Industries Federation and also the Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI); member of the Election committee of the Confederation of Finnish Industries EK; member of the Business Co-Operation Council, EU-Russia Industrialists´ Roundtable (IRT) and Co-Chairman of the Forest Industry Task Force.
Mr Karvinen was born in Finland in 1957 and holds a Master of Science degree in Electronics and Industrial Economics from Tampere University of Technology in Finland. He is married, with two children.

Mr Honório, age 52, graduated in Economics from Coimbra University. Earlier in his career, he worked in the oil sector and in the banking industry. He holds the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Portucel Soporcel group and is also a member of the Executive Committee of Semapa - Sociedade de Investimento e Gestão SGPS, SA, the major shareholder of Portucel - Empresa Produtora de Pasta e Papel, SA and Secil - Companhia Geral de Cal e Cimento. He is also a Board Member in several companies of the Semapa Group, namely in Secil.
Other positions include Chairman of the Board and of the Executive Committee of CELPA, the Portuguese Paper Industry Association, Director of CIP (Portuguese Industry Confederation) and member of the Board and of the Executive Committee of CEPI, Confederation of European Paper Industries.

Máximo Pacheco joined International Paper in 1994 as Executive Vice President for Chile and Latin America of Carter Holt Harvey. In 2000 he was appointed President of International Paper Latin America.
Máximo is currently the President of International Paper Europe, Middle East and Africa since January 2010 and has been a Senior Vice President of International Paper Co. since 2005.
Before joining IP he worked in Chile for Banco de Chile (1983-1990) and was the Chief Operating Officer of Codelco (1990-1994).
He earned a Business Engineer degree and MBA in Economy from Universidad de Chile.
He is Vice-chairman of the Brazilian Pulp & Paper Association (Bracelpa), member of the Economic Council of the São Paulo Industrial Association (Fiesp) and Board member of Santiago Cityhall Theater in Chile.

Frank Leerkotte was appointed managing director of Print Power in January 2010. Print Power is the graphic industry value chain wide initiative promoting the use of printed media across Europe. Print Power will be launched in April 2010 in 12 Western European countries. Before Print Power Frank was Managing Director of CEPIFINE, the Confederation of European Fine Paper Industries. He holds an M.Sc. degree in business economics from the University of Amsterdam. Frank is 49, married to Cecile and together they have two children. The family lives in the Netherlands.

Clive Suckling
Leader Global Forest, Paper & Packaging industry practice, PricewaterhouseCoopers

Clive Suckling is a graduate of Oxford University and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Clive has over 20 years experience in advising international companies on mergers, acquisitions and disposals, capital markets transactions, cross-border investment and corporate reporting.
Through his earlier responsibility for developing PwC´s business in Scandinavia, Clive has worked with many of the world´s leading paper companies based in that region over the past 20 years. He has also acted for a number of other European and non-European paper companies on cross-border investment strategies and acted in both advisory and support roles for private equity houses.
Previously Director, since 1 July 2008, he has been Leader of PwC´s Global Forest, Paper & Packaging industry practice, with responsibility for developing the firms´ thinking and services towards that sector on a global basis. He is a regular speaker on forest, paper and packaging industry issues and trends at conferences and events across the world and has authored several published articles on industry developments. He is based in London.

Norbert Walter is chief economist of Deutsche Bank Group and head of Deutsche Bank Research. Before his current position he was professor and director at the renowned Kiel Institute for World Economics and was a John J. McCloy Distinguished Research Fellow at the American Institute for Contemporary Studies at the Johns Hopkins University in Washington, DC (1986 - 1987). He holds a doctorate in economics from the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University, Frankfurt/Main.
As chief economist of Deutsche Bank Group Norbert is responsible for a globally integrated approach in economic research. Deutsche Bank´s think tank, Deutsche Bank Research, covers a wide spectrum of issues ranging from economic forecasting to country rating and sector analysis.
Services are rendered to the Bank´s board, staff, customers and the general public. In addition to holding these responsibilities at Deutsche Bank, Professor Walter is a member of the Committee of Wise Men on the Regulation of European Securities Markets ("Lamfalussy group").
Norbert loves debate, and he will gladly hold forth on anything from deflation, the prospects offered by the internet, the euro´s perspective or the role of the IMF. Many know him - as he says himself, he is like a cup of expresso: small, dark and strong - from watching the evening news bulletins. When it is a question of explaining economic issues, editors of television news, programmes, and newspaper and magazine editors, look to the 65-year old based in Frankfurt for comment and explanation. He is old Europe´s economist, with a keen interest in a global perspective.

He has held a broad range of positions within the company, including: Operations Manager, North America; General Manager Paper Chemicals, North America; Global Manager, Engineering and Projects, and VP Technology and Engineering. He has been based in Mississippi, Washington and Georgia in the USA and in Stockholm and Gothenburg, Sweden. Prior to joining Eka, he worked with Texas Eastern and Babcock and Wilcox. He holds an Engineering degree and a MBA from Mississippi State University.

Gunilla Saltin

Gunilla Saltin, born in 1965, has been President of Södra Cell AB, Södra´s largest business area, since April 2008. She holds a Master of Engineering degree in chemical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and a doctorate from the University of Idaho, USA, as well as an MBA from the Stockholm School of Economics. Gunilla, who was worked for Södra since 2000, has a broad experience in the forest industry. Prior to her current assigment she was mill manager at Södra Cell´s pulp mill in Värö and before that, she worked for STFI (Innventia), Stockholm (1989) and the former MoDo Group in Research & Development, Örnsköldsvik (1994-1997) and at the Husum Pulp Mill (1997-2000).
Gunilla is married and has two children.

Florian Stockert of Austrian nationality was born in 1959. He holds a doctorate in law from the University of Vienna and a Diploma in International Relations of the Bologna Center of Johns Hopkins University.
After his law practice at the Commercial District Court, the Juvenile Criminal Court and the Viennese law firm Allmayer-Beck, he joined the Mondi Group in 1986 as Sales Manager Sackkraft, Kraftpaper & Kraftpulp at Patria Papier & Zellstoff AG, Vienna. In 1990 he moved to Milan as Sales Director of Patria Italia Srl and was responsible for setting up Frantschach´s first European Sales Office. Back to Vienna in 1996 he became responsible for global sales and product development & strategy for Kraftpulp as Sales Director Kraftpulp of Frantschach Packaging. He was also a member of the Merger and Acquisition team, with a focus on Turkey and Oversea projects.
Prior to his current positions of Board Member of Mondi Packaging Paper Swiecie SA and Sales Director Containerboard, Mondi Packaging Paper Sales, with personal responsibility for the Vienna central sales office as well as 7 European Sales offices, he was Sales Director of Mondi Packaging Paper Swiecie SA.
Florian, who is fluent in German, English and Italian with conversational knowledge of French and Dutch, is married with three children and enjoys familiy activities, theatre, hunting, sport and reading.

Arnaud Franco has been a market analyst with the Pulp and Paper Products Council since 2006, specializing in the graphic papers sector. In this time, he has gathered extensive experience in analyzing paper markets and the drivers which affect demand and supply.
Born in Washington D.C., USA, he has spent an extended period of his life in Africa, living and working in Senegal, Zimbabwe and Burkina Faso. Academically, Arnaud graduated with a Master of Science in Economics from the University of Montreal with a specialization in industrial organization and international development economics.
