| Herbert, born in Berlin in 1955, gained a diploma in business administration in Switzerland in 1981. His non-paper activities and positions have included market and opinion research at the renowned German opinion research institute IfD Allensbach, product development and marketing for Coca-Cola GmbH in Essen, project supervisor for marketing in the Bremen-based social/psychological research institute GETAS. End of 1988, he entered the paper industry with Nordland Papier. He was manager for market research and marketing planning with the Kymmene Corporation and after the merger in 1996, he became marketing service director for the divisional marketing and until the UPM Finepaper Division left Emsland at the end of 2001, was a member of the divisional management group. He was a marketing director for fine papers from 2001 until 2003, when he changed to line operations as managing director for NorService GmbH, a specialised converting and service company, serving both UPM and third parties. |
